   GAME DESCRIPTION

October 2, 1900 - 28 years to the day that noted London eccentric, Phileas Fogg accepted and then won a £20,000 bet that he could travel "Around the World in 80 Days". Now at the dawn of the century it was time for a new "impossible journey". Some old friends have gathered to celebrate Fogg's impetuous and lucrative gamble - and to propose a new wager of their own.

The stakes: $1 Million in a winner-takes-all competition. The objective: to see which of them can travel by rail to the most cities in North America - in just 7 days. The journey begins immediately...

Ticket to Ride is a cross-country train adventure where players collect cards of various types of train cars that enable them to claim railway routes connecting cities throughout North America.

Simple rules and a pretty quick game!

This game is VERY easy to learn. Quickly read over the rules, and you are ready to play. This game is perfect for people that don't play games very often, as the rules are so very simple. The game play is very fun. I have played with 2 - 5 players and the game works well with all of those numbers. My wife liked the game though she lost dreadfully. A game that she can lose DREADFULLY and still want to play again is a good one in my eyes.

Ticket To Ride is the newest game from Days of Wonder. Now, we're already all familiar with this american-french game publisher who has been making only the top quality games. I mean, the games were good, and the components were super good. So when I heard that they are making a korean version of their new game, I was really interested. With a little help from my friend, I had the chance to proof-read the korean rule. And then one thing led to another, and boom! I had the chance to play the game!

The game is about visiting as many cities as you can and it has some background story about a group of friends celebrating the achievement of Philias Foggs, who is a fictional character in the n ...Read the rest of this review

I had great expectations for this game based on the hype. After all, it won the Spiele de Jahres, Moon has already created a great train game in Union Pacific and it seems that we have had an above average quallity year in 03/04. Yet my expectations weren't met. But only initially.

You see, I am more of a deep strategy gamer (El Grande, Puerto Rico, Taj Mahal, etc.) and I forgot that this game is a middle weight contender. However, once I played this for what it was, I see why this game has been deemed a classic early in it's release.

Easy rules, simple gameplay yet enough strategy to keep a "thinking gamer" engaged are all hallmarks of this game. If you want to add a deep strategy gam ...Read the rest of this review

When I first heard about Days of Wonder’s newest game, Ticket to Ride (Days of Wonder, 2004 – Alan Moon), I was excited. But how could I not be – for all of Days of Wonders games so far have been fabulous, and it seems that each successive game gets better and better. And Alan Moon with a train game (shades of Union Pacific) sounded like a winning combination. I had an opportunity to play the final version of the game, and was quite impressed with how the game looked.

And is the game any good? The short answer is that once you play this game, you’ll never play TransAmerica again. It’s a fantastic medium-weight game - one that plays equally well with two to five players. The components a ...Read the rest of this review
